From the desk of Creative Director, Elliot Kreloff...
We just received the Chinese versions of two of our Blue Apple books by the brilliant Jessie Hartland -- HOW THE DINOSAUR GOT TO THE MUSEUM and HOW THE SPHINX GOT TO THE MUSEUM.
When I designed these books we chose to create a "logo" to identify each of the jobs that were involved in bringing these artifacts to their museums. It was a lot of fun playing around with what font, color and shape to use for each logo. I never really thought about what would happen if the books were translated into another language -- and especially if that language had completely different letterforms! So when I saw the Chinese versions of these books I was delighted to see what a wonderful job the Chinese designer did with translating my logo designs.
I can't wait to see what they do with Jessie's latest -- HOW THE METEOR GOT TO THE MUSEUM. Following are some images from the Chinese versions. Can any Chinese speakers guess what the last logo on the sphinx pages says in English? Or what about the name of the dinosaur (in English please!)
